Senior Portfolio Manager
Petar joins Wellington-Altus Private Wealth as a Senior Portfolio Manager with over two decades of experience in wealth management. He has enjoyed a distinguished career in serving high-net-worth families and individuals as well as corporate and institutional clients. He is committed to helping clients manage constantly evolving global financial markets. This is achieved with the highest standards in ethics and integrity and by solving complex problems that both better and simplify outcomes.
A graduate of Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Petar holds a B.A. in Economics; and became accredited as a Portfolio Manager by earning his Chartered Investment Manager designation (CIM®) through the Canadian Securities Institute. He strives to continually improve his skills to the benefit of his clients, particularly in the disciplines of technical analysis and in understanding how the global financial system operates. More recently, Petar began to explore the beneficial role artificial intelligence can play in the future of investment portfolio management as well as how digital currencies and Blockchain technology can change the future landscape of investing.
An accomplished athlete in multiple team sports, Petar played U.S. College Football at Simon Fraser University for four years before being drafted 29th overall in the 1995 CFL Draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Fluent in both English and Serbo-Croatian, Petar’s hobbies include reading and researching a wide variety of topics, including health, diet and nutrition, geopolitics and world affairs, and of course, global macro and economic trends. He also looks forward to spending quality time in the great outdoors with his family on weekends and while on vacation, often in the mountains in his Jeep or by a lake, river, or ocean.
Petar is currently Vice-President and Board Member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Alumni Association; and volunteers as a fundraiser and rider for Riverview Health Centre (Winnipeg, MB) during their annual Cycle on Life. Previously, Petar spent over 10 years as a volunteer men’s high school football coach and as a soccer coach. He found joy in not only helping students evolve into better athletes but also in becoming better individuals.
He is married to his wife Allison, and they have three children – Aleksandar, Milena, and Ella.
