Andrew Braithwaite

Andrew currently co-leads the direct investing efforts of The Cynosure Group, an independent alternatives asset manager and advisor that makes long-term investments on behalf of families, foundations, and other like-minded institutions. Andrew came to Cynosure from The Carlyle Group where he spent a number of years with it’s Global Financial Services Fund helping source, evaluate, and manage investments across two private equity funds. While at Carlyle, Andrew focused on the firm’s investments in asset and wealth management, financial technology, insurance brokerage, specialty finance/depositories, and business services. Before joining Carlyle, Andrew was an investment banker with Barclays Capital, working in its Financial Institutions Group focusing on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions.

Andrew has served or serves as a director or observer on numerous company boards including, Avalon Advisors, Black Rock Coffee Bar, Brand Group Holdings, Inc., Conifer Financial Services, Gold Medal Pools, Steward Partners, Visible Supply Chain Management, Wellington-Altus, and Xenith Bankshares. Andrew graduated summa cum laude from Merrimack College where he received a B.S. in business administration – finance and economics.
