WINNIPEG, TORONTO, and MONTRÉAL, Thursday, June 5, 2025 /CNW/ — Wellington-Altus Financial Inc. is excited to announce that Wellington-Altus Private Wealth Inc. (Wellington-Altus), its private wealth division, has been recognized as Canada’s top-rated investment dealer in the 2025 Brokerage Report Card for the sixth consecutive year.

Achieving an overall rating of 9.5, the results highlight the success of Wellington-Altus’ independent business model that gives advisors the tools and support they need to run their practice as they see fit, and in their clients’ best interest. This approach has quickly established Wellington-Altus as one of the fastest-growing wealth management firms in Canada, set to achieve $40 billion in assets under administration in just over eight years.

“When we started the Wellington-Altus journey, our goal was to reinvent wealth management in Canada,” said Shaun Hauser, Founder & CEO of Wellington-Altus Financial Inc. “With six years of stellar Brokerage Report Card results, we’ve solidified our position as a leading destination for Canada’s top advisors seeking unparalleled support, collaborative partnerships and an innovative mindset.”

The 2025 Brokerage Report Card, conducted by industry publication Investment Executive, measures Canada’s top investment dealers based on various criteria that are rated by a firm’s own advisors.

Wellington-Altus excelled in all 27 categories, leading in 21, including receptiveness to advisor feedback, products and support for high-net-worth clients, financial planning support and technology, business development and marketing support, and remote system access and transactions.

“None of these results would be possible without the efforts and commitment from one of the most talented teams in the industry and the valued feedback from our advisors,” added Shaun, “Thank you to all our advisors and corporate staff for helping us reach yet another tremendous milestone.”

The firm also received top marks for its overall culture, with the highest rating for its leadership team and strategic focus. It also maintained an unmatched net promoter score of 97.7.

May Market Insights: Mastery and the Terror Premium

Winston Churchill, as first lord of the Admiralty, tied Britain’s fate to Persian oil. United States President Donald Trump’s war in Iran, centred on Operation Epic Fury, could do the same for the West by removing Iran’s nuclear shadow, resetting oil toward US$60, and finally unlocking a modern peace dividend.

The Tax You Didn’t See Coming: Phantom Income Explained

For direct investments such as stocks and bonds, interest and dividends are taxed in the year in which they are received, and capital gains are taxed in the year in which they are triggered (sold). This results in a straightforward tax effect whereby the investor receives investment income and pays the appropriate amount of tax on a portion of the proceeds. With indirect ownership of securities, for example where an investor owns stocks indirectly through a mutual fund or an ETF, the tax situation may not be as simple.

April Market Insights: Bretton Woods 2.0, the New Great Game, and Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump’s second term is not just another burst of tariff theatre; it is the opening move in a new great game over energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and money. By neutralizing Iran and Venezuela, squeezing Cuba, binding Canada, and courting Russia, Washington is trying to re-anchor oil in U.S. dollars and push BRICS’ [1] monetary ambitions to the margins. Layered on top are digital rails—dollar-backed stablecoins, tokenized Treasuries, gold, and even a strategic bitcoin reserve—designed to harden, not retire, King Dollar. If it works, Bretton Woods 2.0 will arrive not as a conference, but as the unannounced sequel to a crisis-ridden decade, with the U.S. once again writing the rules.
