Vice-Chair
Wellington-Altus Financial Inc.
Senior Portfolio Manager & Senior Wealth Advisor
Wellington-Altus Private Wealth Inc.
Colin Ryan began his wealth management career in 1992, and after 27 years at his prior firm he joined Wellington-Altus in 2019. His team currently serves high-net-worth, ultra-high-net-worth families and institutional clients. Colin also spent many years in executive management at his prior firm and was on the advisory committee that set policy and strategy for over 1,200 advisors with over $120 billion in assets.
He and his team view their relationships with clients as a privilege. Their approach is deeply personal and often goes beyond wealth management, offering clients a lifelong partnership with a group of skilled professionals. Clients enjoy the peace of mind that comes with a team that operates on an independent platform, with full transparency.
Colin is a former finalist for the IDA Distinction Award, given to investment professionals who represent excellence in the profession. At his previous firm, he was acclaimed annually for excellence in wealth management. In addition to that internal recognition, Colin was named one of the top 50 advisors in Canada (#11) by Wealth Professional magazine in 2019. That same year, the publication named him Portfolio Manager of the Year, and his team was a finalist for Advisory Team of the Year (fewer than 10 employees). In 2021 and 2022, Colin was named one of Canada’s Top Wealth Advisors by The Globe and Mail – Report on Business in conjunction with Shook Research.
Colin holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA). This global program’s rigorous curriculum and work experience requirements make the CFA charter the most recognized achievement in the global investment industry. He has a B.Comm. (Honours – Finance) from the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba, and has completed executive education programs from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. Colin is committed to lifelong learning, and has completed numerous industry programs such as the Institute of Corporate Directors Course (ICD.D) through the Rotman School of Management and the Asper Executive Education Centre.
